Ohema Mercy and Yaw Sarpong to embark on separate peace tour

Two of Ghana’s premium gospel musicians, Ohemaa Mercy and Yaw Sarpong, are set to embark on separate nationwide campaigns on peaceful elections towards this year’s general elections scheduled for November 7.

While Ohemaa Mercy starts her campaign in Accra in February, Yaw Sarpong’s begins from Kumasi in March. According to Ohemaa Mercy, she would be joined by a few of her gospel musicians on her tour.

“I am embarking on this peace tour not because I believe there would be violence during this year’s elections.“However, I think it wouldn’t hurt anyone to sound a word of caution to anyone who has the intention of causing commotion during the period”, she said.ohema-mercy

Ohemaa, known for songs such as Aseda, Wofiri Mu, Nhyira, Menka Mano Nto Mu, We Praise Your Name among others, told Graphic Showbiz she is already rehearsing with a band to make the campaign an interesting one.

According to Yaw Sarpong, he believes he can convince Ghanaians to avoid all sort of violence during this year’s elections through music. He said together with his team, they will drive home the message on the disadvantages of what election violence can bring to a nation.

“In addition to using my music to sensitive Ghanaians, I will also bring on board experts to educate Ghanaians on the dangers of election violence” he added.yaw sarpong
