Joe Mettle maintains a spot in the Artiste of the year category list, what are his chances?

The reigning VGMA ultimate winner, Joe Mettle still maintains a firm position in the Artiste of the year category nomination list in this year’s edition of the award.

This category and a few others announced last night at the VGMA nominee party held at the Movenpic Ambassador Hotel in Accra, saw the gospel minister firmly positioned on top of the list ready to compete for the ultimate price for the second time.

This I may say is going to be a tough competition since he (Joe Mettle) has been nominated together with Ebony (Late), Shatta Wale, Sarkodie and Stone Bwoy. We cannot therefore deny the fact that, these names are certainly giants in the secular music industry who have paid their dues as far as the year of consideration is concerned.

artiste of the year

The awesome and admired gospel musician, worship leader, song writer won the prestigious award for the first time last year from the gospel genre in the history of the Music Awards since its inception. This award by Joe Mettle last year  created a division of opinion within the masses of music lovers. To the smaller group , he did not deserve to be the ultimate winner, but to the other group which obviously include gospel music followers, it is long overdue and its well deserved, especially for an artiste who had really worked hard and satisfied all requirement as laid down by Charter House to be crowned artiste of the year.

Joe has also been nominated for the Song of the year category giving him a total of 7 nominations from different categories.

JOE METTLE – YEAR UNDER REVIEW

In the year under review, Joe Mettle has really worked hard. He had first of all released three major singles; Yesu Edi Nkunim, Onwawani and Bo noo ni which are also part of his God of Miracle album released last year.

Bo noo ni, released on September 12th 2017 was received massively by all music lovers, had incredible online downloads, streaming and hits. The statistics does not end there, Bo noo ni occupied the number one spot on ITunes for the first week of its release and it is still one of the top most downloaded songs on aftown platform for several months now.

The video of Bo noo ni also had over 2 million of viewership so far on Youtube, and that is incredible.

His latest album, God of Miracle (Live DVD Recording) was released in November last year znc have since been rated one of the top highly patronized albums from Ghana on major online music shop. The album features top notch gospel artiste such as Ntokonzo Mbambo Mbatha (South Africa), Nathaniel Bassey (Nigeria), Ohemaa Mercy, Akesse Brempong and Kingzkid (Ghana).

Looking at these achievements, it should first of all be on record that, Joe Mettle deserves to be part of this list and subsequently becoming a probable second time ultimate winner should not be a surprise.
