The righteous shall flourish
Psalms 92:12
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
What is so special about the Palm tree and the cedar in Lebanon?
First of all we can identify the kind of person who shall flourish. This kind of person is called the the righteous. That means the man that has a right standing with God. A man who knows his righteousness is of God but not of himself. This is a person who’s born of God in Christ. He has become the righteousness of God in Christ ( 1 Corinthians 1:30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,).
We are called righteous not according to our own righteousness but Christ’s.
The amazing part is that the wicked are likened to the grass ( Psalms 92:7 that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever;). They shall have a short duration of life span.
The Palm tree has to do with its ability to endure even in the season of no water.
The righteous shall flourish like the palm-tree – That is, the beauty, the erectness, the stateliness, the growth of the palm-tree – all this is an emblem of the condition, the prosperity, the happiness of a righteous man. The wicked shall be cut down; but the righteous shall flourish. This image – the comparison of a righteous man to a flourishing, majestic, green, and beautiful tree – is not uncommon in the Scriptures.
So I need to confess this as often as possible. I’m not just the flourished of the Lord but I’m the flourishing of the Lord like the Palm tree.
The cedar gives us the idea of majesty, stability, durability and incorruptibility. To these two trees, for the most obvious reasons, are the righteous compared. It gives US an idea of how God want US to grow higher in his word and to reach his fullness (Ephesians 3:19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.).
CONFESSION
I’m flourishing like the Palm tree.
I’m growing higher like the Palm tree.
I’m the ever green of the Lord.
I’m full of God.
I’m growing like the cedar in Lebanon.
Hallelujah!!!
In Jesus name. Amen
