Tagoe Sisters to Celebrate 50 years of God’s Love
Fifty years is a special landmark in any individual’s life and for gospel duo, Tagoe Sisters, it’s been 50 years of God’s love, mercy and favour, so they intend to celebrate just that!
Tagoe Sisters made up of Lydia Dedei Yawson (Nee Tagoe) and Elizabeth Korkoi Tagoe will turn 50 years old on July 27 this year and are planning to celebrate their birthday with a concert dubbed, The Tagoe Jubilee Concert.
In a chat with Showbiz on Tuesday, the duo who have been in the music business for the past 35 years said the concert which is expected to be exciting will feature some of the big names in the gospel fraternity.
According to the duo who were awarded gospel music honours by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) at last Saturday’s Ghana Music Week celebration said the jubilee concert will be one of their biggest concerts ever.
Artistes such as Ohemaa Mercy, Helena Rabbles, Amy Newman, Akosua Adjepong, Rev Thomas Yawson among others are some of the gospel musicians expected to support the ‘gospel divas’ on the night.
“35 years in the music business is no joke and as two sisters who have contributed so much to the gospel scene, we believe organizing concert and inviting Ghanaians to join in the celebration is a step in the right direction,” they said.
They also have a line-up of activities to mark their birthday and some of them will be visiting some orphanages to make donations.
“ We were at the Mampong School For the Deaf where we donated assorted items worth over Gh ¢10,000.00 about two weeks ago.
“ We will also organise a football gala match between the gospel musicians and secular musicians as part of activities towards our birthday celebrations,” the excited twins told Showbiz.
The Tagoe Sisters who have eight albums to their credit are currently promoting their latest album, Adonai.
Although they did not have time to promote Adonai last year because they buried their father, the twins hope to do that this year.
