Luke 5:37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.
Everyone likes to experience something new in the physical world, so if don’t like a new house, a new shirt or a new car given to you by a loved one, then I am sorry to say that you are so weird. But when it comes to the things of the spirit, its rather the opposite for most of us, we love to stick with the old sinful self naturally, unless the Holy Spirit totally deals with us, we will keep going back to who we were. So Jesus says “Light has come to the world but men loved darkness instead…”
God is very dynamic and He is always on the move of doing new things in us, and among us. Before He brings the new, He will make sure that you are ready for it, or it will be a waste of His resources.
In our foundational scripture above, Jesus compared this scenario with a new wine and an old wineskin. Putting a new wine into an old wineskin is a waste of the wine, because the wineskin can never contain it. The lesson our Lord is trying to paint here is that before you can receive ability, strength, much anointing etc. from God, He has to make sure you are ready for it. If you are not ready, forget it. Imagine you are praying to God for a job, and you haven’t even written one application letter, or your attitude towards work is bad, then you are not ready for the new thing.
REMEMBER
Sometimes God takes through certain situation, just to make us ready for the new thing He is about to do. Don’t give up, continue with God and let Him prepare you, because life is a Walk with God and not a Race with men
