ABOUT DESIREE’S
Desiree was born into a musical family and started out as a backing vocalist for her brother Blondie Makhene & Spankk touring with him all over Africa from age 18 until her calling into ministry. She has always been involved in different projects; her first official project – Winds of Change – was established in 1985 and released their first CD recording in 1995. This group was the first Gospel group at the time, and one of its kind, to win the Shell Road to Fame competition in the early nineties. During this time, she led the Praise and Worship Ministry at Grace Bible Church, under the leadership of Bishop Mosa and Pastor Gege Sono; where she sharpened her skill for 17 years.
Desiree has extensive experience in music is extensive including travelling abroad to minister musically in major churches, alongside big names such as renowned Christian author, John Maxwell as well as around the continent.
Over the years, she’s worked with renowned artists in the industry both locally and abroad, including Trevor Sampson, Lionel Petersen, Janine Price, Mthunzi Namba, Chris Ellom of the Smile Africa Project, the Billy Graham Worship Team (Tommy Coomes Band), James Okon as well as Donny Mcclurkin and Cece Winans during their South Africa visit in 2013.
Over and above developing her musical career, in her other role as a community builder, she devotes a substantial amount of time to working with aspiring singers, mostly from disadvantaged backgrounds, to help them master their skills in music as well as give them a platform to practice what they had learned and to grow in this calling of discipleship through the medium of music.
