MOG, Celestine Donkor and Bludo picked an award each at the Ongoing VGMA 21

The first night of the ongoing 21st Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA 21) has seen smiles on the faces of some Gospel musicians as they have picked awards in their respective categories so far.

The first night of the event slated to run from Friday, August 28 to Sunday 30th August at the at Grand Dome Arena in Accra. On the night, MOG music won the award for the Male Vocalist of The Year with his song ‘Hallelujah’, beating Joe Mettle, Kuami Eugene, Kidi, and King Promise.

Agbebolo hitmaker Celestine Donkor also picked up an award in the category of Female Vocalist of The Year. She was in the same category as Efe Grace, Becca, Adina, Afya, and Lamisi.

Finally, head of PL Crew and one of the key players in the Joe Mettle’s band, Bludo Junior finally won an Award in the category of Instrumentalists of The Year after last year’s unsuccessful entry. He competed with the likes of, Joshua Moszi, Steve Bedi, Mizter Okyere, Affreh Junior, and Anthony Ansah (Khalisax)

The Awards night continues tonight but a closer look revealed that the gospel musician winners from last night, have won from non-exclusive categories. Meaning these are not gospel music exclusive categories.

The anticipation for the most prestigious category ‘VGMA Artiste of the Year’ is increasing gradually. Mo Ne Yo’ crooner Diana Hamilton is repping the gospel industry in there with tight competition from Sarkodie, Medika, Kuami Eugene, Kofi Kinaata. We wish her the very best.
