John 15:9 “I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love.(MSG)
Jesus in his statement made it so plain to his disciples that He had loved them so they should do likewise. This is our core virtue as Christians. Christ is saying that feel at home in my love. The love of God is our home. It’s a place without hatred and fears. This is because perfect love cast out fears and GOD IS LOVE( 1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him).
Love makes relationship. You cannot have effective relationship with someone if your love is soo cold towards the person. Some others have it in the reverse form–lust makes relationship. That’s a wrong attitude. You must have love as your attitude. Make it your life. Sex doesn’t make a relationship. It rather destroys and render it unhealthy.
Love is a forgiver and a giver. Where there’s love,forgiveness abounds and the spirit of giving also reigns in the place. Love has a strong heart of sacrifice and Christ gave US a perfect example worthy of emulation.John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. There’s also a lasting ingredient in the spirit of love and good relationship. True love must be found on EVERLASTING principles. The God principles are need to have healthy relationship. Forgiveness and giving are core principles or virtues we must add to our love walk.
Love dares to die for the person involved. John 15:13 This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends. The love language is not an option but a command from the father. It’s the only sure way to live at peace with ALL. We’re mandated to love and to establish that relationship with the brethrens. Love is also tolerant of ALL. Make your tolerance count because love is ever tolerating. Rom 14:22 Cultivate your own relationship with God, but don’t impose it on others. You’re fortunate if your behavior and your belief are coherent.
PRAYER
Father I thank you for your love at work in my life. I’m full of your boundless love. I release it to ALL. I’m a giver not just a receiver. In Jesus name. Amen
