Isaiah 40:1-2 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.
In our natural world, trading a life for something means that the thing is very very important and worth the spilling of blood to get. It sometimes difficult to think of someone who lived and all his purpose far as life is concerned is to exchange his life for the redemption and freedom of others. That is a beautiful exchange and an aggressive love at its peak
In our text above, God spoke in mercy to His people declaring the comfort that is to come and the payment for a generational sin and curse started from the garden of Eden. ‘…..and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed’. The completeness of atonement for sin can only be achieved through the worthy lamb of God and not through any other human being on which a generational sin is attached.
God has put plans in place from beginning of the world to bring total salvation, redemption and alignment of humans to His nature before the beginning of the world and he boldly declare this as a period of comfort. This a happy moment where eternity and God’s nature in born in the spirit of men – God in us, with us and among us.
Through the death of Jesus, God is please with us, longs to fellowship with us because we have a common ground – the pure blood that washes us and the His Spirit that indwells us. So instead of crying and revisiting the past for some mistakes committed and feeling unworthy before God, know that because of that someone died for you in order that the guilt will not bind you again.
Live proud in God, knowing that the penalty for your mistakes has be punished on one man through his suffering on the cross and let the power of the cross set your mind and heart apart for the King of Glory.
Confession
I live a life of comfort, because the price has been paid. No chain binds me, I am not bound by any rule or standards except the rule and standards of the Spirit. As I celebrate his death today, the darkness, the pain, and the discomfort is dealt with. Now I live in comfort and the brightness of His Glory……Amen
