The Jamaican Gospel Reggae/Dancehall superstar, Chevelle Franklin on August 25th, released her third studio album title ‘Set Time’ after 10 solid years of being off the major music scene.
The artiste in her own words described her 10 years of absence as full of opened doors for tours to Ghana, Nigeria, Africa and the world as a whole.
“Doors kept opening up all over the world”. God opened doors in Nigeria, Ghana and Zimbabwe, I mean all over Africa, and the world by extension – London, The Middle East, The States and Europe, so I figured people were wondering if I migrated or something. God was doing His thing, I kept receiving new music but the season was not yet fulfilled for music to be released”.
Set Time chronicles the journey thus far. “I could not rush, I had to learn patience and trust the process”.
The album, according to the gospel reggae/dancehall artiste is one of her major projects so far, and it features the versatile Israel Houghton, South Africa’s dynamic worship minister Lionel Peterson and Nigerian gospel music icon Frank Edwards.
Going back to the 90’s, Chevelle exploded onto the music limelight and made for herself a great deal of name with the single ‘Dancehall Queen’ with Bennie Man and Mr. Lover Man – Shabba Ranks. But according to the then secular dancehall artiste, who had been on same stages and parties with the likes of Janet Jackson, Marie Carey etc, she has a great & deep void inside which Jesus alone can fill.
The 12 tracks album which also got a spot for the recently released Caribbean Afro-Praise medley of popular African Praise songs ‘I have a Father’ features the evergreen Donnie McClurkin.
